Angus Lawson Memorial Trust, financial giant back RP booters

-

MANILA, Philippines - A charity group and a German financial giant are backing the Philippine team of street kids vying in the Deloitte Street Child World Cup football tournament scheduled March 14-23 in Durban, South Africa.

As part of its corporate social responsibility program, Deutsche Bank, through its financial servicing arm, Deutsche Knowledge Services, is one of the major partners in sending nine underprivileged youths to the event serving as run-up to the World Cup finals in July.

“Consistent with corporate social responsibility program, Deutsche Knowledge Services, the professional service center of the Deutsche Bank Group...is supporting the Philippine team,” said Damian Dunn, quoting DKS chief executive officer Chris Sullivan.

“Deutsche Knowledge Services is committed to creating opportunities for social investment through education, value formation, arts and sports. Supporting the Philippine team...is important in bringing the children to their aspiration of alleviating their condition and empowering them,” Sullivan added.

On the other hand, team co-managers Ed Formoso and Craig Burrows welcomed the support of Angus Lawson Memorial Trust (ALMT) and German investment bank, saying “the support of ALMT and Deutsche Bank is not only heartwarming but will also inspire our players to go all out in doing their best in the tournament.”

Selected from tryouts held and organized last year by the Henry V. Moran Foundation, the team is led by skipper Erica Mae Inocencio of Tuloy sa Don Bosco Street Children Village.
