Juday ‘do malayong maging Kapuso

PERUSE ME - Ronnie Carrasco -

It may be safe to say na kung maihahalintulad sa extreme sport ang status ngayon ni Judy Ann Santos sa ABS-CBN as well as its film arm (Star Cinema), nothing is more appropriate than skydiving.

And like one who’s engaged in it, nakalutang din sa alapaap si Juday faced with the grimmest of chances kung ano na nga ba ang plano sa kanya ng kanyang mother studio.

I’d like to consider as gospel truth ’yung sinabi ni Alfie Lorenzo, Juday’s manager, that nothing seems to be in the works. No project in the offing is heard of na pagbibidahan ng kanyang alaga, except that Kuya Alfie knows that Juday’s closest rival, Claudine Barretto, is being pushed by ABS-CBN to the hilt again.

Isang network move raw ’yon which has been tried in the past, kung saan muling binubuhay ng istasyon ang mga namahingang career ng mga talents nito, but to no avail.

Naniniwala rin si Kuya Alfie na bahagi na muling paingayin ang pangalan ni Claudine was to have her endorse a shampoo commercial alongside Juday Ann. Bluntly put, ginamit si Juday.

Given these elements that do not augur well for Juday in her home studio, one does not have to be a seeress or a sorceress to foretell what Kuya Alfie and Juday’s forthcoming move is.

’Ika nga, ang ginawang pananapat ng Star Cinema sa Juday-produced movie and a life of uncertainty in her TV career prove to be the proverbial straw that has broken the camel’s back. Add to this ay ang istado ni Kuya Alfie sa DZMM na wari’y pinaghalong work stoppage na, may “gag order” pa!

If this scenario does not present itself as a major ground for Juday’s eventual transfer from Kapamilya to Kapuso, hindi ko na alam ang tawag dito.

Ang alam ko, anybody has a reason to live for and to die for. Sa kaso ni Juday, is her mother studio worth living for and dying for?

Pasintabi muna kay John Lapus and his God-knows-just-how-many fans. Isasatinig ko lang ang regular na sanang viewer ng Showbiz Central, in fact, too loyal that he has adjusted his Sunday household activities so as not to miss the show.

It’s so tacky, it’s so cheap!” himutok ng intelihente pa man ding viewer.

I remember Startalk’s fledgling years back then. Si Kris Aquino pa ang co-host noon nina Boy Abunda at Lolit Solis. And ever since, naroon na ang segment ni ’Nay Lolit na Alok-Bati, yes, the only surviving segment all these years, Kris would always say of Alok-Bati: “It cheapens the show!”

Going 13 years na ang Startalk, will John’s “cheap” segment last this long?
