CEBU, Philippines - The Dumaguete City government, through the city's Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO), has lined up a series of activities in observance of this year's Environment Month.

ENRO's Armand Adanza, who is in-charge of the June activities, said the observance opened with a tree-planting last June 1 with at least 150 tree seedlings and 50 bamboo seedlings planted along the Cantil-e dry creek by participants from Cantil-e Elementary School, the military and the police, and members of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Other activities are environmental compliance seminar on June 7, DENR Day (June 10), PIA-Negros Oriental forum (June 14), Civic Action Day (June 15), which will be a city-wide cleanup in all barangays, schools, businesses, government offices and residences, said Adanza.

On June 22 will be Arbor Day, June 27 the oratorical contest and poster making contest, and on June 30 will be a Fun Run and tree-planting activity in Barangay Camanjac. (FREEMAN)
