30-Phl cyclist sasabak sa Le Tour

MANILA, Philippines — Mahigit 30 Filipino riders sa pa-ngunguna ni national champion Jan Paul Morales ang makikipagtagisan ng husay laban sa 50 foreign sa mas pinalaking Ninth Le Tour de Filipinas na magsisimula ngayong Linggo sa Quezon Memorial Circle sa Quezon City at  matatapos sa Burnham Park sa Baguio City sa Miyerkules.

Kasama ni Morales, ang leader ng Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance team, si Ronald Oranza na isa ring ma-lakas na siklesta sa kumpetisyon na inihandog ng Air21, Cignal at Cargohaus Inc. at inoorganisa ng Ube Media Inc.

“We will give our best in the Le Tour. We have been training hard and we will surely give the foreigners a tough fight,” sabi ng 32-anyos na si Morales.

Kabilang sa makikipagsapalaran sa four-stage International Cycling Union race, ang mahigit 17 teams mas higit ng dalawa sa nakaraang taon.

 “This will be an exciting edition of the Le Tour de Filipinas because there are more Filipino riders seeing action this time around,” ayon kay Philcycling pre-sident at Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Ang ibang malalakas na Filipino riders ay sina Marcelo Felipe, Rustom Lim at 2014 champion Mark John Lexer Galedo ng 7-Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines, Mark Julius Bonzo at Alfie Catalan ng Team CCN Philippines, Ronnel Hualda at Boots Ryan Cayubit ng Go For Gold, George Oconer at Jerry Aquino Jr. ng Philippine National Team at Lloyd Lucien Reynante para sa Bike Extreme Philippines kasama si Chris Joven.

Inaasahan din ang mabigat na ha-mon mula sa foreign teams kabilang na ang Terrenganu Cycling Team (Malaysia), Pishgaman Cycling Team (Iran), Nice Devo Cycling Team (Mongolia), Interpro Cycling Academy (Japan), Oliver’s Real Food Racing (Australia), Korail Cycling Team (South Korea).
