Ming Ramos, nagbitiw bilang chairman ng badminton assocociation

MANILA, Philippines – Dahil na rin sa kanyang napakahigpit na iskedyul ay napilitang magbitiw si dating First Lady at long time badminton president Amelita ‘Ming’ Ramos bilang chairman emeritus ng Philippine Badminton Association (PBA), ayon sa pahayag ng asosasyon.

Ang PBA ay kasalukuyang pinamamahalaan nina chairman Manny V. Pangilinan ng Philippine Long Distance Telecommunication Company/SMART at Secretary-General Negros Occidental Congressman Albee Benitez.

“We, the entire badminton community and the PBA, would like to thank former First Lady Mrs. Ming Ramos for her valuable contributions to the badminton community and to the national team since 1996,” sabi ni Benitez sa isang statement.

Unang nagsilbi si Ramos bilang PBA president noong 1996 bago bumaba sa puwesto at naging honorary chairman noong 2011 election kung saan nailuklok si Vice-President Jejomar Binay bilang pangulo.

Sa kanyang pamamahala bilang presidente ay pinalakas ng 87-anyos na si Ramos ang kanilang grassroots development program at ang promos-yon ng badminton sa buong bansa.

Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatayo ng mga badminton courts bukod pa sa pagdaraos ng mga badminton clinics.

Sa kabila ng kanyang pagbibitiw sa puwesto ay nangako si Ramos, asawa ni dating President Fidel Valdez Ramos, na patuloy niyang susuportahan ang mga programa ng PBA.
