WAP pasasaklolo sa POC/PSC

MANILA, Philippines — Hihingi ng tulong ang Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP) sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) upang maibalik bilang re-gular event ang wrestling sa 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Ayon sa Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc), hindi binigyan ng international federation at Asian federation ng wrestling ng authorization ang Pilipinas para itaguyod ang wrestling event sa SEA Games na tatakbo mula Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 11.

“Please be informed that considering that Phisgoc has not received any official authorization from the International and Asian Federation of Wrestling, as required by the SEA Games Federation Charter, the Phisgoc cannot proceed organizing wrestling in the upcoming SEA Games,” ani Phisgoc Chief Operating Officer Tats Suzara.

Dahil dito, walang magawa ang Phisgoc kundi tanggalin na lamang ang wrestling sa kalendaryo.

Ikinalungkot ni WAP President Alvin Aguilar ang naging aksiyon ngunit nangako itong ilalaban ang wrestling na muling maibalik sa mga lalaruin sa biennial meet.

Hindi pa naman pinal ang desisyon dahil magkakaroon pa ng SEA Games technical delegates mee-ting sa Setyembre 4 hanggang 5 sa Manila Hotel kung saan posibleng madesisyunan kung mai-babalik ito sa kalendaryo o tuluyan nang maalis sa listahan.

May kabuuang 530 gintong medalya ang paglalabanan mula sa 56 sports kung saan 14 gintong medalya ang nakataya sa wrestling.
