Gerald namudmod ng pagkain sa Kamuning

YSTAR - Baby E - Pang-masa

Guess who surprised the young students of the Kamuning Elementary School on Scout Trillo St., Barangay Sacred Heart, Quezon City nung Friday para lang batiin ang mga bata and, of course, mamahagi ng mga regalo courtesy of Star Cinema as part of the production’s 20th anniversary?

Gerald Anderson, that’s who.

Gerald, as we all know, headlines Star Cinema’s latest offering, On the Job (OTJ), which is drawing crowds from all types of moviegoers dahil sa pagiging very relevant nito, bukod pa sa timely ang theme dahil na rin sa kasalukuyang mga kaganapang nangyayari sa ating bansa.

Star Cinema co-produced OTJ with Reality Entertainment na directed by Erik Matti. The movie also stars Piolo Pascual, Joel Torre, Rayver Cruz, and Joey Marquez. The female leads are Angel Aquino, Empress, and Shaina Magdayao. Introducing naman si Dawn Jimenez.

Gerald could not stay long with the students though. Sobra raw ang nararamdaman niyang antok dahil may taping siya a night before for his new series Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin, na ang co-stars naman niya ay sina Dawn Zulueta, Dina Bonnevie, Rayver Cruz, Tonton Gutierrez, and Cristine Reyes.

Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin will start airing on Sept. 2 on ABS-CBN.

It seems, Salve A., that most of our young stars, especially those na kaga-graduate pa lamang ng high school, prefer na kumuha ng culinary arts courses in college. Aside, of course, from theaters arts and filmmaking, which are the courses na kasalukuyang pinag-aaralan nina Diana Zubiri at Megan Young.

Nasa kanyang huling semester na sa theaters arts si Diana sa Miriam College. Si Megan naman ay sa St. Benilde-De La Salle kumukuha ng filmmaking.

Currently a student of culinary arts at St. Benilde is newcomer Dawn Jimenez. She is introduced sa currently showing On the Job.

When the male major cast of OTJ, Piolo, Rayver, at Gerald, together with film director Erik Matti, were at the Cannes International Film Festival in France for the premiere showing of their movie, guess daw where Dawn was?

Well, at a school called Institute Polytechnique La salle Beauvais, also in France, attending a three-week course in molecular gastronomy.

Dawn, whose real name is Dawn Balagot (Jimenez is her mom’s maiden surname) started her showbiz career in an indie film called The Animals.

It was in that movie, according to Direk Erik that he first saw Dawn.

Direk Erik plans to have Dawn star soon in a major film, probably isang aksiyon daw, with a mixture of some sex scenes na much bolder siguro than what she did in OTJ.

Only 18, Dawn drives a BMW car, a birthday gift from her father, Jofred.

Maricel suki ni Mel Martinez sa sariling restaurant

Culinary arts din ang kursong balak kunin ni Carlo Aquino when school opens for its second semester in October.

Did we hear it right na baka mag-aral din ng kursong ito si AiAi delas Alas?

Already a graduate of culinary arts is Judy Ann Santos, who used to manage two restaurants before her marriage to Ryan Agoncillo.

Now a chef of his own restaurant is former child actor and comedian Mel Martinez.

Guess who frequents his eatery called Cucina ni Bunso in Quezon City?

None other than his elder sister, Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.

Mel revealed he took up a culinary arts course for six months from the School of Knowledge and Development (SKD) Academy for Culinary Arts in Quezon City.
