Romero kumpiyansang papasok sa semis ang B-Pier

MANILA, Philippines – May pitong sunod siyang kampeonato sa Philippine Basketball League, isang korona sa Asean Basketball League at gold medal sa South East  Asian Games.

Sa nakaraang dalawang seasons niya sa Philippine Basketball Association ay pawang kabiguan ang kanyang nalasap.

Kahapon ay sinabi ni Globalport team owner Mikee Romero na kumpiyansa siyang makakapasok sila sa semifinal round ng alinman sa tatlong komperensya ng 40th PBA season.

“Ayoko ng matalo. Two years is enough. I don't want to wait anymore,” sabi kahapon ni Romero sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum sa Shakey’s Malate.

Nakasama ni Romero sa sesyon sina head coach Pido Jarencio, board of governer Erick Arejola, team manager BJ Manalo at mga players na sina Alex Cabag­not, Terrence Romeo, Mark Isip, Chris Jensen, rookie Paulo Taha at 2014 No. 1 overall pick Stanley Pringle.

“Our target is to land in the semifinals for the first time this year and we have three conferences to do it,” dagdag pa ni Romero.

Sa nakaraang dalawang season sa pro league ay dalawang beses lamang umabante sa playoffs ang Batang Pier, kasama rito ang kanilang quarterfinals appearance sa 2014 PBA Philippine Cup.

“Ito 'yung team na palaban, hindi umaatras sa kahit anong laban,” sabi ni Jarencio. Para palakasin ang kanilang kampanya sa 40th PBA season ay nagtungo ang Batang Pier sa South Korea kung saan nila hinarap ang ilang colleges teams at ballclubs ng Korean Basketball League (KBL).

Kamakalawa ay tinalo nila ang Talk 'N Text sa Legazpi City sa isang exhibition game.
