Bosch salutes Filipino skilled workers

-

MANILA, Philippines - On its milestone 125th anniversary this year, power tools pioneer Bosch reaffirms its support to the industries it serves via its renewed support for skilled Filipino workers and the various agencies and professional groups responsible for mobilizing national development.

“Bosch goes beyond creating efficient, more powerful and energy-saving tools by designing tools for the Filipino workmen,” says William Go, Bosch country sales director. “We believe that minimizing physical fatigue among power tools users also contributes to higher precision and work efficiency. That is why Bosch has incorporated product features that address workers’ health and safety.”

Since Robert Bosch Inc. Philippines entered into a memorandum of agreement with the country’s Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), close to 10,000 skilled service workers have undergone certificate training courses as a result of the cooperation.

In 2009, both organizations renewed their partnership and jointly conducted programs on workers’ health and safety, particularly in construction worksites. In light of the recent massive repatriation of Filipino workers from the Middle East and Japan, Bosch supported TESDA’s National Technical-Vocational Education and Training Competency Assessment and Certification (NATCAC). The event, which was inaugurated by presidential sister Kris Aquino and TESDA Secretary Joel Villanueva, focused on skills and competency assessment and conducting nationwide certification services for key qualifications that are hard to find but with high industry demand.

In addition to construction and development, Bosch power tools are widely used in the local furniture and fabrication industry where its woodworking, cordless and measuring tools have earned the reputation for being versatile and very durable.

Towards this, Bosch recently supported the Manila Now Philippine International Furniture Show (PIFS) at the SMX. As one of Asia’s design centers, the country has long been respected for the quality, creativity and diversity of its furnishings and accessories that are sought after by buyers and connoisseurs of excellent design. The company’s participation also underscores its confidence in Filipino craftsmanship and the PIFS’s desire to be leader of the furniture design industry of Asia.
