MANILA, Philippines — More students will now be accommodated at Pambujan National High School (PNHS) in Northern Samar with the new learning facilities completed under the convergence program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Education (DepEd).

DPWH - Region 8 Director Neri Bueno reported to Secretary Mark Villar the recent completion and turnover of a two-story, two-classroom science laboratory building and a two-story, two-classroom regular workshop facility that totalled P11 million.

“These newly built school buildings will be of great significance to the students of PNHS. It will also bring comfort to hundreds of students currently enrolled and thousands in the coming years,” Villar said.

Both school building projects implemented by the DPWH Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office are funded under the 2018 DepEd Basic Educational Facilities fund.

The DPWH Iloilo Second District Engineering Office has completed two new school facilities at Sara National High School (SNHS) in Iloilo.

The construction of a P4-million covered court funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act was completed on Nov. 9 last year, almost two months ahead of scheduled completion date last Jan. 6.

District Engr. Flordelis Enriquez of DPWH Iloilo Third District Engineering Office said the project now serves as a venue for various academic, social and cultural activities like the division level of Festival of Talents participated in by various schools in the province, which SHNS hosted on Nov. 8-10 last year.

“We requested the contractor to employ additional workforce and work double time to complete the project in advance, hence, the project was completed earlier than scheduled,” Enriquez said.

In May last year, the DPWH also built a new two-story ICT laboratory building for senior high school at SNHS, which cost P12.79 million backed by the DepEd’s Basic Educational Facilities Fund.
