Duterte signs law establishing PUP-Mindoro campus

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has signed a law establishing a Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) campus in the town of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.

“The signing of this law will be a morale-booster not only for residents of Occidental Mindoro but also of other provinces in the MIMAROPA (Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan) region. Truly, this is a big step forward as we strive to improve access to free, quality tertiary education,” Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Sato said yesterday.

She authored the PUP-Sablayan campus bill at the House of Representatives, while Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito introduced a counterpart measure at the Senate.

Sato thanked the President for what she described as “a gift to the youth of MIMAROPA.”
