Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Different types of dogs have started to arrive in the country to participate in a dog show at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall from Feb. 21-24.

Animal quarantine officer-in-charge Cristina Betito yesterday said that the dogs, owned by foreign nationals, will join the Philippine K-9 Club Inc. (PPCI) show.

Four hundred seventy dogs are expected to participate in the show, Betito said.

Since Monday, around 20 dogs and their owners have arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, including a three-year-old Yorkshire Terrier named Sand Dune owned by Thai Nanta Tansacha.

Sand Dune won the 2012 dog show in Thailand.

Another Thai, Oranuj Kanjanachusak, brought her three-year-old Siberian Husky while Malaysian Lee Kok Hoong brought his three-year-old Pug weighing 11 kilos.

Foreign dog experts from Belgium, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Russia, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cyprus, Serbia, Chile, Pakistan and Taiwan will comprise the panel of judges.
