MANILA, Philippines — A website of the Department of Information and Communications Technology was defaced on Friday, the DICT reported.

The DICT said the affected website was still in the development and testing stage when the defacement incident happened.

“It was being used to evaluate the website’s functionality, configurations and other components as part of the preparation for its eventual deployment,” the DICT said in a statement.

According to the DICT, the website was not the final version and not intended for official public implementation.

After the defacement was detected, the DICT said it immediately addressed the problem to establish how the unauthorized access happened and determine whether any security weaknesses may be involved.

The results of the assessment would determine the appropriate corrective and security measures, it added.

The DICT assures the public that the necessary security checks and validation activities would be completed before the website will be opened for use.
