BAGUIO CITY — Authorities seized about P11.7 million worth of unregistered cooking oil and apprehended four men during a raid in Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet, on Thursday, March 26.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) agents, along with Food and Drug Administration personnel, arrested the business owner and three workers who were caught in flagrante while selling and distributing the products.

The suspects, identified by their aliases “Harold,” “Den,” “Jay,” and “Jop,” were charged with violating Republic Act No. 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, for operating without the required permits and selling unregistered food items.

According to the CIDG, the unregistered food products may be unsafe, as they have not been evaluated by the FDA.

The operation was part of a nationwide drive against illegal goods, and authorities urged the public to report similar activities.
