MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos led the opening yesterday of the westbound off-ramp of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAX) along Andrews Avenue leading to NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

Marcos said the 320-meter-long road would reduce travel time from South Luzon Expressway, Skyway Stage 3 and Lawton Avenue by 15 to 25 minutes, from the previous 40 minutes.

“This is just a part of what we do, especially in preparation for the Holy Week,” Marcos said, adding that the government has already opened the connector road from Cavitex up to C5 to ensure a continuous flow of traffic from the highway.

The President added that the expressway going to Cabanatuan is expected to be opened to motorists soon.

Built by San Miguel Corp., the new ramp will bypass a bottleneck, allowing motorists to reach Terminal 3 in only five minutes.

Meanwhile, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange said 999,096 passengers have used the PITX ahead of the Holy Week travel surge.

The PITX expects three million passengers to use the facility from March 22 to April 6. As of yesterday, seats on buses to the Bicol region were already 78-percent reserved.
