MMDA opens shower facilities for bikers

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) opened yesterday shower facilities in Pasig for bicycle riders.
Four shower facilities – one for male, one for female and two all-gender rooms – were opened.
The MMDA said the initiative aims to ensure that the transition from the road to the workplace is “comfortable, inclusive and accessible for cyclists.”
The facilities also provide amenities such as bike racks and changing spaces for bikers, especially those going to work.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said they plan to put up similar facilities across Metro Manila to promote the use of sustainable modes of transportation.
The MMDA said around 1,700 cyclists use the EDSA bike lane daily.
