MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared special non-working holidays in Ilocos Norte, home province of President Marcos, as well as in three other areas to allow residents to participate in key local events.

Proclamation 1147 declared Feb. 2 a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte for the celebration of the province’s 208th founding anniversary.

The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by the authority of the President on Jan. 21.

Proclamation 1146 declared Feb. 28 a holiday in Sarrat to allow residents to celebrate the town’s founding anniversary.

Sarrat is the birthplace of Marcos’ late father and namesake who held the presidency from 1965 to 1986.

Recto also signed Proclamation 1143 declaring Jan. 26 a special non-working day in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental for the 52nd Dinagsa Festival.

Biñan City in Laguna will celebrate its 81st Liberation Day on Feb. 3, which has been declared a holiday as provided under Proclamation 1144.

Two events in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay – the town’s founding anniversary and the BOG Festival – prompted Malacañang to issue Proclamation 1145 declaring Feb. 26 a special non-working day in the area. The four proclamations were signed on Jan. 19.
