MMDA: NCAP back on Monday

MANILA, Philippines — All major thoroughfares under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will be covered by the no-contact apprehension policy or NCAP starting on May 26, the MMDA announced yesterday.
These are EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, Ortigas Avenue, Macapagal Boulevard, Quezon Avenue and C-5.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the NCAP would be enforced in seven major roads in Metro Manila covered by the lifting of the temporary restraining (TRO) order of the Supreme Court.
The SC lifted the TRO on NCAP only for the MMDA. The no-contact apprehension scheme implemented by local government units remains suspended.
The MMDA underscored the need to enforce the NCAP in anticipation of monstrous traffic jams amid the EDSA rehabilitation beginning on June 13.
