MANILA, Philippines (Updated 3:45 p.m.) — Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has secured her second term in the position after she was proclaimed the winner in the city's mayoral race on Tuesday morning, May 13.

Partial and unofficial results based on election returns (99.64% as of 3:12 p.m.) show that Sandoval received 120,305 votes. She beat her sole challenger, Jaye Noel-Lacson, who garnered 65,432 votes — or about half of Sandoval's. 

However, Sandoval's husband, Ricky Sandoval, lost in the city's congressional race. 

Lenlen Oreta, Malabon's former mayor from 2012 to 2022, beat Ricky with 84,608 votes. The mayor's husband received 67,580 votes.

Meanwhile, Edward Nolaco was also proclaimed the winner in the elections for the city's vice mayoralty, completing the lineup of newly elected officials.

Nolasco received 73,063 votes, based on the unofficial tally of media transparency servers.

Malabon has 233,868 registered voters, with 193,388 reported to have submitted their ballots on election day.
