Kidnapped Chinese tortured in POGO hub

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese kidnapped in Pasay City on Monday has been tortured in a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub in Porac, Pampanga.
The 27-year-old victim was found in a room at the compound of the Lucky South 99 firm along Fil-Am Friendship Highway yesterday, Winston John Casio, spokesman for the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, said.
Casio said unidentified men seized the victim for failure to pay his debt in a casino, and was tortured for refusing to engage in scamming activities.
“He was beaten black and blue,” Casio said.
Col. Jean Fajardo, Philippine National Police chief information officer, said Special Action Force commandos securing the compound found the victim in handcuffs.
The victim is the 158th foreigner found in the POGO firm, which authorities raided on Tuesday.
Casio said 29 Filipino workers rounded up in the raid were sent home after they gave their statements.
