MANILA, Philippines — Port authorities are expecting more people to travel by sea during the Holy Week.

Based on the projections of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), up to 2.08 million people will board sea vessels in going to their provinces from March 24 to 31.

The figure is higher than last year’s 1.87 million  people who traveled by sea during the Holy Week or from April 2 to 9, 2023, the PPA said.

With the anticipated surge, the PPA is preparing measures to ensure passenger convenience in different ports in the country.

The Manila North Port said it would conduct free film showings and sanitation at the passenger terminal building after every trip.

Other ports nationwide will prepare signages and provide additional chairs and tents for passengers who are waiting for their trips.

The PPA will put up blue lanes and one-stop shops to ensure the orderly entry of vehicles as well as prevent fixers from conducting activities for people who want to be first in line.
