Ilocos college chief dies in road mishap

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines — The president of the Polytechnic State College in Ilocos Sur died after his car hit a van and collided with a bus in Santa, Ilocos Sur on Saturday.

Gilbert Arce, 54, of Vigan City, was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital due to head and body injuries.

Investigation showed that Arce was driving a pick-up truck in Barangay Mabilbila when he hit a van.

The impact caused the pick-up to swerve and collide with the bus.

Bus driver Alvaro Tumbaga and his passengers suffered minor injuries and were brought to different hospitals for treatment.
