Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A Korean national, who is wanted in her country for telecommunications fraud, was arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives in Pampanga on Tuesday.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Kim Ye-rum, 28, was apprehended in Angeles City by personnel of the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

A summary deportation order has been issued against Kim since October 2021.

Kim is being held at the BI warden facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City while awaiting her deportation.

BI-FSU acting chief Rendel Ryan Sy said Kim was accused of being a member of a voice phishing syndicate.
