Go inspects Super Health Center’s construction in Nueva Ecija

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go recently inspected the ongoing construction of the Super Health Center in Rizal, Nueva Ecija. He was accompanied by GP partylist Rep. Jose Padiernos.

Go has been pushing for the establishment of Super Health Centers in the country, particularly in fifth- and sixth-class municipalities, where residents have limited access to health services.

The establishment of Super Health Centers started in 2021 after the country realized the shortage of health facilities in remote municipalities with limited funds, especially amid the pandemic.

“This was made possible with the help of the Department of Health and my colleagues in Congress. During my travels nationwide, I saw the need for health centers in fifth- and sixth- class municipalities,” Go said on Thursday.

He said the Super Health Centers would provide the much-needed health services to residents who often need to travel long distances to access medical care.

He said one of the challenges in providing medical services in remote communities is convincing residents to get vaccinated.

The Super Health Center in Rizal town is currently 20 percent complete. It will offer a range of health services including database management, outpatient care, birthing, isolation, diagnostic procedures such as x-rays and ultrasound as well as pharmacy services. It is also equipped with an ambulatory surgical unit.

Just like other Super Health Centers, it will also have specialty services such as oncology; physical therapy and rehabilitation; ear, nose, and throat services, and telemedicine facilities.

Through Go’s efforts, sufficient funds had been allocated under the 2022 Health Facilities Enhancement Program for the construction of 307 Super Health Centers.

Go and his team also distributed assistance to 1,100 poor residents as well as food packs, vitamins, face masks and snacks.

Select beneficiaries received calendars, bicycles, cellphones, shoes, sports equipment shirts, and watched.

Go, an adopted son of Nueva Ecija, lauded local officials including Gov. Oyie Umali, Vice Gov. Anthony Umali, Rep. Joseph Gilbert Violago, Rizal Mayor Hanna Katrina Andres and Vice Mayor Bonifacio Soliven for promoting the welfare of their constituents.
