Cop charged for sexual harassment
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A police officer has been charged for allegedly sexually harassing a student-trainee in Bacoor, Cavite.
Chief M/Sgt. Romar Sinnung, 47, of the Bacoor police, was charged with violation of Republic Act 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1195 before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Aside from the criminal complaint, an administrative case was also filed against Sinnung before the pre-evaluation charge unit of the Philippine National Police.
Sinnung was relieved from his post and ordered to report to the Cavite police headquarters.
The accused was declared AWOL or absent without official leave, according to Cavite police director Col. Christopher Olazo.
The charges stemmed from a complaint filed on Dec. 1 by a 23-year-old student who was undergoing training at the police station.
The complainant said the harassment occurred on Oct. 11 and 13 as well as Nov. 8 and 9.
She said the officer touched her back, legs and breasts.
