MMDA proposes exclusive motorcycle lane on Commonwealth Avenue
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday proposed the installation of an exclusive motorcycle lane on Commonwealth Avenue to improve traffic flow along the highway.
The MMDA ended yesterday the two-day motorcycle consultation workshop, which was attended by various stakeholders, including motorcycle rider groups.
The proposal will be presented to the Metro Manila Council, which is comprised of the 17 mayors in the National Capital Region.
Based on the plan, the rightmost lane of Commonwealth Avenue will be for bicycles. The second lane will be for public utility vehicles and the third lane will be for motorcycles.
The remaining four lanes will be for private vehicles.
The MMDA said they are eyeing to implement the traffic scheme in November when face-to-face classes are expected to be in full swing.
