CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines — Five persons have been arrested for selling fake gold bars and counterfeit money in stings conducted by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives in Misamis Oriental.

Eglesiro Quijano, Aurelio Adanza, Pablo Rayon and Alfredo Allego were apprehended for selling fake gold bars to CIDG agents who posed as buyers in Barangay Poblacion in Villanueva town on Sept. 1.

The CIDG said fake gold bars of various weights and sizes, P1,000 in marked money, two motorcycles, 90 pieces of fake P1,000 and P500 bills and two cellular phones were recovered from the suspects.

A follow-up operation on Sept. 4 resulted in the arrest of Aguileo Cabeltes. He allegedly yielded 270 pieces of fake P1,000 and P500 bills.
