The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go sent assistance to poor families in San Pedro, Laguna on Friday.

Go’s employees and staff distributed packed meals and face masks to 1,500 residents in Barangay Sto. Rosario.

Select families and individuals received new pairs of shoes, bicycles and computer tablets for their children’s online schooling.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development providedcash assistance under its assistance to individuals in crisis situation program.

In a video message, Go reminded the beneficiaries to continue observing health protocols and urged them to get vaccinated against COVID.

He encouraged beneficiaries with health concerns to visit the Malasakit Centers located at the Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz and San Pablo City General Hospital

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that brings together government agencies with medical assistance programs for poor and indigent patients such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

There are now 151 Malasakit Centers nationwide.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act.

An adopted son of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Go thanked local officials for their continued support and service to their constituents.

Go vowed to continue providing support for the recovery of vulnerable sectors amid the global health crisis.

To help spur economic growth in the province, Go, supported the construction of multipurpose buildings in Cavinti, Liliw, Lumban, Majayjay, Pagsanjan, Pila and Sta. Maria; slaughterhouses in Mabitac, Nagcarlan and Pagsanjan, and public markets in Liliw, Nagcarlan, Pagsanjan and Rizal.

On April 29, Go’s team conducted a similar relief activity for 800 poor residents in Cabuyao, Los Baños, Sta. Cruz and Alaminos.
