Palawan congressional bet nabbed

Neil Jayson Servallos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A businesswoman who is seeking a congressional seat in Palawan was arrested on Tuesday for alleged violation of the Bouncing Check Law.

Magnolia May de Leon, 47, was apprehended in Barangay Ugong in Pasig City at around 10:55 p.m. based on a warrant issued by a local court, Pasig police chief Col. Roman Arugay said.

Police have yet to release details of the complaint filed against De Leon. She is being held at the custodial facility of the Pasig police.

“The entire Pasig police force together with other police units continue the intensified campaign to put lawless elements and wanted persons behind bars and maximize efforts to eradicate all forms of lawlessness in the city,” Arugay said.

De Leon is running for the second congressional district of Palawan as an independent candidate.
