MANILA, Philippines — Police are investigating the case of a Catholic priest who was reported missing for more than 48 hours in Cavite and was found alive yesterday afternoon.

Fr. Leoben Peregrino of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Rosario town was reported missing on Friday morning.

He was last seen leaving the parish in a white sport utility vehicle.

Peregreno’s brother Joel told police that the priest went to Imus to buy candles, but failed to return until Saturday night.

Police said Joel told them that his brother was found on Sunday afternoon.

“We thank you for your prayers. Father Peregrino was found in Barangay Lumil in Silang town. He is alive,” Joel said in a post on social media.
