Quakes jolt Davao provinces
MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes rocked Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Baganga, Davao Oriental at around 4:43 a.m.
The epicenter of the quake was located 18 kilometers southeast of Baganga.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in Baganga and Caraga in Davao Oriental and Maco in Davao de Oro.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Mawab and Monkayo in Davao de Oro; Mati City, Lupon, Manay, Governor Generoso, Tarragona and San Isidro in Davao Oriental; Bislig City in Surigao del Sur, and Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
At around 10:26 a.m., a magnitude 6.1 quake hit Sarangani in Davao Occidental.
The epicenter of the quake, which had a depth of focus of 33 kms, was located 275 kms southeast of Balut Island.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Sarangani and Intensity 1 in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
State seismologists said there was no reported damage from the quakes, but aftershocks were expected.
