Legarda gives aid to Odette-hit LGUs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three-term senator and now Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda has provided financial aid to local government units (LGUs) affected by Typhoon Odette.

Legarda gave food packs and construction materials to LGUs in Negros Occidental, Cebu, Bohol, Southern Leyte, Palawan, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands as well as her home province Antique.

“Nakakalungkot isiping nataon pang magpa-Pasko at bagong taon ng tayo ay hagupitin ng bagyong Odette. My province is among the affected areas and our neighboring provinces in the Visayas as well as in the southern part of Luzon and in Mindanao were severely damaged and have recorded casualties. In these trying times, our fellow Filipinos count on quick action and immediate response,” she said.

“Kaisa ng aking pamilya, minabuti po naming magpaabot ng financial assistance upang mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga LGUs na gamitin ang halagang ito sa kung ano sa tingin nila ang higit na kailangan ng mga tao sa kanilang mga lokalidad,” Legarda said.

She recently turned over cash assistance to LGUs in the fourth, fifth and sixth districts of Negros Occidental; Kabankalan City; Sipalay City; second and fifth districts of Cebu province; Liloan; the cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay and Cebu; Consolacion; the first, second and third districts of Bohol, and Tagbilaran City.

Del Carmen and Surigao City in Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands as well as Roxas and the third district of Palawan and Southern Leyte also received financial aid from Legarda’s office during the holidays.
