Fires hit Valenzuela homes, Navotas ship

MANILA, Philippines — Fires broke out at a residential area in Valenzuela and a ship in Navotas on Thursday.

Both incidents were first-alarm fires, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Four houses in Sitio Kabatuhan in Barangay Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela were gutted by the blaze. Three people were reported hurt while four families of 18 individuals were displaced, the BFP said.

Meanwhile, a ship docked at a port along E. Rodriguez 2 street in Barangay Tanza, Navotas caught fire.

The crews of three BFP firetrucks and seven more from volunteer groups responded to put out the fire, which the BFP said could have started in the cabin room where acetylene was stored.
