9 Ilocos schools chosen for in-person classes

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — Nine public schools in Ilocos Norte and another in Pangasinan will participate in the pilot run of face-to-face classes on Nov. 15, according to Department of Education (DepEd)-Ilocos regional director Tolentino Aquino.

Aquino said these are Alao-ao Elementary School in Bangui town; Bicbica, Buanga and Godogod  Elementary Schools in Pinili; Dumalneg Elementary and National High Schools, and San Isidro and Cacafean Elementary Schools in Marcos.

In Pangasinan, Longos Elementary School in Alaminos City will participate in face-to-face classes.

Aquino said the nine schools are on the third list of schools provided by the Department of Health (DOH).

He said kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils are participating in in-person classes.

“We assure the public that we have safety measures employed by the schools and the DepEd as a whole, and the DOH is continuously guiding and supervising us,” Aquino said.

Romarie Castillo, DepEd-Ilocos medical officer, said teaching assignments would be given to vaccinated teachers.

A total of 18,209 teaching and non-teaching personnel in provinces in Ilocos region have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Oct. 27.

Ninety schools nationwide are joining the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes.
