MANILA, Philippines — Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and actor-turned-congressman Yul Servo yesterday filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for mayor and vice mayor, respectively.

Lacuna and Servo filed their COCs at the Commission on Elections office in Arroceros.

In her speech during the declaration of her mayoralty bid in Intramuros, Lacuna said she aims to be the city’s first woman mayor.

Lacuna said she made history when she became the first woman majority floor leader when she was councilor. She is Manila’s first woman vice mayor.

Calling herself the “door-to-door doctor” with her experience in medical practice, Lacuna thanked Mayor Isko Moreno for not making her a “spare tire” vice mayor and letting her lead the COVID-19 pandemic response.

“Here in Manila, we are all equal. My being a woman was not a measure of my capacity to lead and serve,” Lacuna said in Filipino.

She vowed to be the city’s “mother” if she is elected mayor.

Servo said he is qualified to run for vice mayor, having served three terms as councilor and two terms as representative of the city’s 3rd District.

Lacuna and Servo are running under the Asenso Manileño party founded by her father, former vice mayor Danny Lacuna.

The tandem introduced their entire slate, including the six congressional bets: Ernix Dionisio for 1st District; Rolan Valeriano, 2nd District; Joel Chua, 3rd District; Edward Maceda, 4th District; Irwin Tieng, 5th District, and Benny Abante, 6th District.
