IAS to resolve Nuezca case this week – Sinas
MANILA, Philippines — The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) is expected to resolve this week the administrative complaint against M/Sgt. Jonel Nuezca who killed a woman and her son in Tarlac on Dec. 20, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said yesterday.
The IAS report may be out on Jan. 11, according to Sinas.
“The IAS promised to resolve the case at the end of the week. So we will have the resolution by Monday,” Sinas told reporters.
Since Nuezca was assigned with the Parañaque police crime laboratory, Sinas said it is the call of the National Capital Region Police Office chief to follow the recommendation of the IAS.
“That’s the system that we will follow to expedite the case so we could achieve the less than 30 days of pre-charge and summary hearing,” Sinas said.
Nuezca was caught on video confronting Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank, 25, on Dec. 20.
The police officer shot the victims at close range and in front of a crowd, including Nuezca’s daughter.
Nuezca is being held at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Paniqui, Tarlac on charges of two counts of murder.
Sinas had promised to have Nuezca dismissed from the police service within 30 days.
