Fake news post an honest mistake – Mocha Uson
MANILA, Philippines — Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Mocha Uson appeared at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday to comply with a subpoena sent to her over the alleged fake coronavirus post she shared on social media.
“Nagkamali lang, honest mistake lang ‘yung sa photo,” Uson said.
Last month, Uson posted on her Facebook account photos of personal protective equipment (PPEs) purchased by the Department of Health.
She replaced the images shortly after netizens noted that the photos included PPEs donated by a private foundation.
Uson arrived at the NBI headquarters in Manila at around 10 a.m. She had a closed-door meeting with cybercrime chief Vic Lorenzo.
Last week, the NBI subpoenaed Uson over allegations that the photos she posted on her Facebook account were fake.
Persons spreading false information about the coronavirus pandemic may face fines of up to P1 million and penalize with two months in prison under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
