Drug suspect slain in ‘shootout’

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug trafficker was killed in an alleged shootout in San Pablo, Laguna on Saturday.

Alexander Minalang, 41, reportedly drew his gun after sensing he was dealing with an undercover agent in Barangay San Francisco at around 9:35 p.m.

Minalang was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.

Police said they recovered a plastic sachet containing shabu and a gun from the suspect.

Records showed that aside from supplying illegal drugs in the third district of Laguna, Minalang was reportedly involved in contract killings.
