Reward offered for arrest of councilor’s killers

Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

SASMUAN, Pampanga, Philippines — The provincial government of Pampanga yesterday offered P500,000 in exchange for information leading to the arrest of the killers of this town’s councilor.

The Central Luzon police ordered a thorough investigation into the murder of Jesus Angeles, who was stabbed eight times and shot twice as he was jogging in Barangay Sta. Lucia here on Saturday morning. He died while being treated at a hospital.

Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda said besides politics, he could not think of other motives for the killing.

He said Angeles had no known enemies and was planning to run for vice mayor in next year’s midterm elections.

Pineda expressed hope the reward would lead to the early resolution of the killing.

Probers are still gathering pieces of evidence to identify the assailants, he said. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
