Driver-only cars banned on EDSA

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Private vehicles with only one person inside will soon be prohibited during rush hours on EDSA as part of the traffic reduction solution of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), an official said yesterday.

MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia said the policy was approved by the Metro Manila Council, composed of the metropolis’ mayors, during a meeting yesterday.

Under the policy, set to be implemented this month, only vehicles with two or more passengers would have the privilege to traverse EDSA, Garcia said.
