Ilocos Norte town mayor unseated
PAOAY, Ilocos Norte, Philippines — The mayor of this town has been removed from his post by the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with an administrative complaint filed against him when he was vice mayor in 2015.
Jessie Galano was found guilty of grave misconduct for falsifying the travel documents of municipal government administrator Bruno Dumlao, who was councilor at the time.
Galano was slapped with the accessory penalties of perpetual disqualification from holding public office, cancellation of civil service eligibility and barred from taking the civil service examination
Dumlao was meted the same penalties after he was found guilty of serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority and gross neglect of duty.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government served the dismissal order on Wednesday.
Vice Mayor Eileen Llaguno-Guerrero took over Galano’s post under the rule of succession.
