Body dumped, shot in Tondo
MANILA, Philippines — The body of a man, apparently a victim of summary execution, was dumped in Tondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 4 Glenzor Vallejo, Manila Police District (MPD) homicide investigator, said Hanzel Seguerra, a resident of Smokey Mountain, was driving his motorcycle along Radial Road 10 when he noticed the body at around 4:35 a.m. and told barangay officials.
Vallejo said the still unidentified victim was clad in a yellow long-sleeved shirt and denim shorts and had the name “Wilma” tatooed on his right arm.
The victim’s face was covered in plastic and he had been shot in the head and chest, he added.
Senior Inspector Dave Abarra, MPD Station 1 investigation chief, said a witness saw the occupants of a white van dump a body near a lamppost along Radial Road 10.
The witness said one of the men pulled out a gun, fired it upwards then shot the victim’s chest before leaving.
MPD Station 1 commander Superintendent Jay Dimaandal ordered a deeper investigation of the case. Police have yet to confirm residents’ claims the victim was an alleged drug user who frequented the area.
