Bus firm charged for ‘nose in, nose out’ violation

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A bus firm has been charged with violating the “nose in, nose out” policy for bus terminals, the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (IACT) said yesterday.

The charges came after Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson of the Presidential Communications and Operations Office called out the Del Monte Land Transport Bus Co. (DLTB) on her Facebook page.

The IACT, through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, has issued summons to the bus firm.

Uson shared a video posted on Facebook by Arvin Cardiel on Feb. 7. The video showed three DLTB buses backing up into the terminal, disrupting the flow of traffic along Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay City.

Cardiel tagged Transportation Undersecretary for roads Thomas Orbos and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Danilo Lim and asked if they could look into the incident.

DLTB could be penalized for obstruction and disregard of traffic signs with the violation of the “nose in, nose out” policy, wherein “buses should go in and out of the terminal with their front end first and are forced to make a turnaround within the terminal if they want to enter again,” Orbos said.

He assured Uson and other netizens that DLTB “will be penalized accordingly.”
