Murder witness slain

MANILA, Philippines -  A 23-year-old pedicab driver who reportedly witnessed the murder of a dance choreographer in Caloocan City was gunned down in front of his father early yesterday morning.

Benjie de Guzman was waiting for passengers at a transport terminal at the corner of Sabalo street and C-4 Road in Barangay 8 when four men on two motorcycles fired at him.

De Guzman’s father, Alberto, also a pedicab driver, rushed him to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon where he was declared dead on arrival.

Alberto identified the suspects as Normandy Alfonso, 34, a security guard; Manuelito Pacansa, 29; Samboy Versoza and Hilbert Sonza, all members of the Suicide Famous gang.

Police arrested Alfonso in a follow-up operation.

Reports said De Guzman witnessed the killing of Alejandri Ofialda Jr. on Feb. 20.

De Guzman had identified Gener Onayan and Rodillo Acleston as the persons who allegedly killed Ofialda.
