MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will look into the killing of a government prosecutor in Mati City, Davao Oriental last week.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said the murder of Rolando Acido was “an act of senseless violence that we will not tolerate.”

“I have ordered the NBI to investigate this condemnable act. The Department of Justice extends its condolences toAcido’s family and relatives. We will not stop until justice is served,” Aguirre said.

Though half-paralyzed after suffering a stroke, Acido continued to work and handled illegal drugs and murder cases.

He had just alighted from his car in front of the the Mati City Metropolitan Trial Court when unidentified motorcycle-riding men fired at him.
