MMDA ready to clear cemeteries in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will start clearing and sprucing-up the major cemeteries of Metro Manila in preparation for the annual All Saints Day event on November 1.

MMDA officer-in-charge Emerson Carlos said the agency would start its clean-up drive on Monday.

Carlos said personnel from the MMDA’s Metro Parkway Clearing Group (MPCG) personnel would be deployed in various private and public cemeteries for the drive that is part of the agency’s “Oplan Kaluluwa” program that runs from October 23 to November 3.

According to Carlos, MPCG personnel will be deployed at the following cemeteries in Metro Manila during the clean up drive:

  • La Loma Cemetery (Caloocan City)
  • Mandaluyong Cemetery (Mandaluyong City)
  • San Felipe Neri Catholic Cemetery (Aglipay)
  • North Cemetery (Manila)
  • South Cemetery (Manila)
  • Barangka Cemetery (Marikina City)
  • Loyola Memorial Park (Parañaque City)
  • Manila Memorial Park (Parañaque City)
  • Palanyag Public Cemetery (Parañaque City)
  • Sargento Mariano Public Cemetery (Pasay City)
  • Roman Catholic Cemetery (Pasig City)
  • Aglipay Cemetery (Pateros)
  • San Joaquin Cemetery (M. Almeda Street)
  • San Roque Cemetery (E. Hermosa Street)
  • Bagbag and Baesa (Quezon City)
  • San Juan Cemetery (San Juan City)
  • Hagonoy Cemetery (Taguig)
  • Libingan ng mga Bayani (Taguig)
  • Arkong Bato (Valenzuela City)
  • Palasan Cemetery (Valenzuela City)
  • Karuhatan Cemetery (Valenzuela City)
  • Soldiers Hill Cemetery (Muntinlupa City)
  • St. Joseph Public Cemetery (Las Piñas City)
  • Tugatog Cemetery (Malabon City)

Aside from the cleanup campaign, the MMDA will also deploy personnel to manage the flow of traffic at critical areas of the metropolis such as bus terminals where people are expected to gather.

Carlos said the MMDA would also dispatch traffic personnel as well as members of its Anti-Jaywalking Unit and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group at the Araneta-Cubao bus terminal, EDSA Cubao bus terminals, EDSA Pasay-Taft bus terminals, Sampaloc bus terminals, Dangwa and along Mindanao Avenue.
