P4.3-M marijuana plants, seedlings torched in Benguet

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

KIBUNGAN, Benguet, Philippines – Some P4.3 million worth of marijuana plants and seedlings were destroyed in separate raids on 14 marijuana plantations in Barangay Tacadang here over the weekend.

Cordillera policemen swooped down on the marijuana plantations in Sitios  Dinummeg, Asob, Bana, Lawed, Minac and Tanap.

Superintendent Cherry Fajardo, Cordillera police spokesman, said the raid on marijuana plantations should serve as a warning on the seriousness of the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

The Cordilleras produces the largest amount of marijuana in the country because of its favorable climate and terrain.
