Village exec shot dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – A 45-year-old village councilwoman was shot dead by a farmer in Delfin Albano town in Isabela Sunday.

George Macatuggal fled, taking with him the firearm he used in killing Julieben Bernardez, said town police chief Senior Inspector Roberto Guiyab.

Reports said Bernardez went to the suspect’s house in Barangay Isidro to settle a dispute over a missing rope between the suspect and his daughter, who sought her help.               

Bernardez died while being treated at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in this city.
