1 killed, 6 others hurt in Cavite ambush - report

MANILA, Philippines - One was killed while six others were wounded, including a village councilor, in an ambush Thursday afternoon in Cavite.

Killed during the ambush was Isnahaya Pangandapon, reports said.

Meanwhile, Bami Adjihasis, a councilor at Barangay Datu Esmael, Dasmarinas City, Cavite; Haifah Hadjiasis, Hadji Raihana Makalangan, Inocaya Pangadapon, Jamael Hadjitaha and Jeffrey Sanchez were hurt in the incident.

Initial reports said that the councilor's group, on board a Toyota Innova, was on their way from a police station around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when they were fired at by gunmen in front of a mall along Aguinaldo Highway in Imus.

Reports said Adjihasis is a witness against the leader of a drug ring in the area, Macatiwas Misug.
