Cop trainee’s death in Mindoro probed

MANILA, Philippines - An investigation is now underway to determine if there was foul play in the death of a junior police trainee in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro last Sunday.

Chief Superintendent Melito Mabilin, Mimaropa police director, said he has ordered an investigation into the death of PO1 Don de los Santos Bartolome.

“I instructed my men to expedite their investigation to find out why the victim and his fellow trainees were there in the beach and the cause of Bartolome’s death,” Mabilin told The STAR.

He said they were also investigating if Bartolome was a victim of hazing.
